This yoga mat is made of 100% pure new wool and is wonderfully soft. It's also highly insulating and blocks out the cold from the floor beneath. This yoga mat is perfect for gentler styles of yoga, such as Yin yoga and Kundalini yoga. A new wool yoga mat is also ideal as a mat under a meditation cushion, providing extra softness and warmth during meditation. This sheep's wool is a natural product that has only been washed and not chemically treated. The backing is made of a non-slip 80% natural latex that prevents slipping. Fairly and lovingly produced in Germany. Maintenance instructions This wool yoga mat can be hand-washed at a maximum temperature of 30°C. Do not tumble dry; hang it out to dry. Sustainability and animal friendliness Our virgin wool yoga mats are made from the highest quality Merino virgin wool. Our wool comes from New Zealand's South Island, where Merino sheep enjoy excellent living conditions, roam freely on large sheep farms, and are gathered once a year for shearing. Sheep farming there is free from the controversial practice of mulesing, and all our raw wool is certified accordingly. We explicitly distance ourselves from this practice and source our wool exclusively from mulesing-free farms on New Zealand's South Island (4% of global wool production), which, by international standards, produce the highest quality wool with the best possible animal welfare. Unfortunately, German or European wool isn't soft and fine enough for our shorn wool yoga mats. We find this a real shame, as we'd love to use Swabian wool!
