A collection of works documenting the scenery and life of the Miana district in Yawatahama City, Ehime Prefecture, the birthplace of the thin-skinned, extremely sweet, high-quality mandarin oranges known as "Miana Mikan."
Photographer Taiji Hirokawa's photographs, taken on location, delicately capture terraced fields, harvesting scenes, the daily lives of farmers, tools, and the landscapes of the satoyama (managed woodlands), vividly reflecting the rich natural environment and the cultural life of the people.
Through the growth of the mandarin oranges and the agricultural work, the book conveys the culture rooted in the region and the symbiosis with nature. It goes beyond simply introducing the fruit, offering content that allows you to feel the beauty of the Japanese rural landscape and the passage of time.
The project was planned by graphic designer Taku Satoh.
