This vintage postcard depicts St. George's Cathedral (Kosciol sw. Jura), a Baroque-Rococo masterpiece in Lwow (now Lviv, Ukraine), once part of Poland and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Known as Kathedralkirche in German, the church was the spiritual heart of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. Its rich architectural detail and elevated hilltop setting made it a landmark of the city, known as Lemberg during the Habsburg period.
