Ocean Pacific, was founded in 1972 by Jim Jenks in San Diego, California. It began as a surfboard brand in the 1960s under John Smith, who sold it through his shop, North County Ding Repair.
The brand changed hands several times, eventually reaching Don Hansen of Hansen Surf Shop, before Jenks transformed it into an apparel line.
Jenks aimed to create clothing that catered to surfers both in and out of the water, drawing from West Coast surf culture.
