This vintage 1927 edition (believed to be first) of Elmer Gantry is Sinclair Lewis’s controversial satire of evangelical preachers, a bold and biting critique that stirred public debate upon release. This edition includes an original 1927 Mediterranean Spring Cruise bookmark (found on page 227) from Raymond & Whitcomb Co. - a colorful piece of period ephemera advertising luxury ocean travel. (I believe any items found in vintage books should remain with the book.)
Overall fair condition for its age:
• Cover: fairly loose in front with marks and wear/fraying at edges and corners (curled)
• Spine: marks and wear at ends
• Pages: overall decent condition with some age marks/brown spots and may have a couple folded corners and small tears. Most pages are clean
• Edges: age marks and darkening
