Sandahl Bergman is an American actress, dancer, and stuntwoman best known for her portrayal of the warrior Valeria in the fantasy film Conan the Barbarian, a role that earned her the Golden Globe and Saturn Award.
Born on November 14, 1951, in Kansas City, Missouri, she grew up in the Kansas City area. In her early twenties, she relocated to New York City to pursue a career in dance, performing as a chorus member in Dancin' (1978–1982) and A Chorus Line, and national tours of Chicago.
Her transition to film began when choreographer Bob Fosse, impressed by her 6-foot stature and athletic build, cast her as a dancer in the 1979 semi-autobiographical musical All That Jazz. then came the roller-disco musical Xanadu (1980) and the comedy Airplane II: The Sequel (1982), but her breakthrough came with Conan the Barbarian.
