Very pretty antique brass box with colorful enamel. I believe this is a stamp box because of the slant inside the box. Stamp boxes were popular in the late 1800’s to around 1915. This box does not fully close. The bottom is marked China.. it’s about 1.6” x 1.25”. It may have been used at an ash tray at some point but the inside is clean.
The McKinley Act of 1891 made countries put the origin (country) where the item was made. Starting in 1919 customs changed the
requirements to say "Made in China" Instead of just China. With that being said this box was most likely made between 1891-1919.
