Offered for sale is a beautiful antique glass covered compote or candy dish made by Indiana Glass. The pattern is called COSMOS & CANE aka CREOLE, but was original given just a number, #168. It was made in ~1883. It has a detailed pattern flowers in diamond shaped panels, separated by a cane design. The pattern extends around the sides of both compote and lid. It stands on a tall, solid glass pedestal.This compote measures 4 5/8 inches (11.7cm) in diameter at the rim, and stands 7 1/2 inches (19.1cm) tall to the top of the finial knob when the lid is in place. It stands 5 1/8 inches (13.0cm) tall at the rim. A U.S. quarter is shown in the first picture, to give an accurate impression of the size at a glance.It is in perfect condition with no chips, cracks, scratches or repairs, and no discoloration or cloudiness in the glass. All my items are from a SMOKE FREE home.
