From my family archives. Ready for a new collector. ;)
The Chantels were an American doo-wop group formed in the Bronx, New York, in 1956. They are best known for their 1958 hit single "Maybe", which became a classic of the genre and has been covered by numerous artists. The group's smooth harmonies and lead singer Arlene Smith's powerful vocals made "Maybe" a standout track.
This particular pressing is on the End Records label, a subsidiary of George Goldner's Grand Records. The song "Maybe" was a significant hit for the group, reaching number 2 on the R&B charts and number 29 on the Billboard Hot 100. The record's catalog number E-1005 and the matrix number HO-8W-1979 are consistent with its original release period.
