Antique paperweight celebrating the 1620 landing of William Bradford and the Mayflower Pilgrims on Plymouth Rock. Weight also reproduces the crack which was caused in Plymouth Rock by efforts to raise it in 1778. Produced by the Providence Inkstand Co. in 1876. Base of paperweight (see photo) is imprinted with the following:A rock in the wilderness welcomed our siresFrom bondage far over the dark rolling seaOn that holy altar they kindled the firesJehovah! Which glow in our bosoms for thee.Imprinted on the bottom edge is:Mary Chilton was the first to land upon the rock.
