These are vintage Barbers' "singe" tapers, 2 boxes, one complete and the other uncounted. Boxes show wear and discoloration. They were used in barber shops approximately a century ago. The practice of "singeing" involved using a lit taper to lightly burn and seal hair ends, which was believed to be healthier for the hair than cutting.
The boxes specify they contain "30 best quality fringed white wax tapers". One box has not been counted, but both are photographed. Singeing was a popular hair treatment around the turn of the 20th century. Some modern barbershops have reportedly revisited the technique as a vintage trend.
