Vintage Portis fedora hat made from fur felt in a classic gray color. Features original interior branding and sweatband marked "Portis – America's Best Value – Super-Lux" and The Locker, Rutgers Co. Holland, MI.
This is an older, USA-made hat with great character and solid structure. The felt shows normal age wear and surface fuzz consistent with vintage use, with no major holes or structural damage. Interior sweatband shows age, cracking, and wear (see photos), which is typical for hats of this era. This hat has a spot where the fur is thin and quite a few stains and discoloration as shown.
It needs a good cleaning but I do not know how to clean fur without damaging it, that's why the price reflects that.
A great piece for vintage menswear, classic style collectors, costume, or everyday wear.
