This is a small **Japanese natural whetstone** (天然砥石) weighing **186g** from the famous **Shōbudani** (菖蒲谷) area in Kyoto’s Shōhonyama mine.
It’s a high-quality **Awasedo** finishing stone, great for sharpening razors, knives, and tools to a very fine, sharp edge.
Because of its size, hardness, and good slurry, you can also use it as a **nagura** (slurry stone) on bigger whetstones to make sharpening faster and smoother.
