This is a vintage hand-carved wooden statue from the late 1960s. It depicts a standing woman carrying a large textured basket on her head, carved in a classic folk art style.
The piece is carved from Gum wood, as noted on the original label found on the base. The label also reads "Asylum Lane," giving this piece a unique history.
It is in vintage condition with a beautiful aged wood patina. Please see the photos for close-ups of the carving marks and wood grain.
Hole in top could be used for incense
