Built in 1931, Hotel Edison is 95 years old now. This postcard is 91 years old. Pictures on postcard show the features of this exciting Times Square Art Deco masterpiece of a building that started building before the 1929 stock market crash and features pre-depression opulence and design. Hotel Edison is still an operating hotel today and the Dining Room has been restored to appearance similar to this opening picture in this postcard. 3” by 5” normal postcard size. Note this hotel mentions Maria Kramer runs this place. Like Leona Helmsley in the late 1990’s, Maria Kramer and her husband Max were powerhouse hoteliers and builders in the 1930’s and 1940’s. Maria made “The Green Room” at Hotel Edison famous for introducing new Jazz talent. She discovered Artie Shaw, Blue Barron, Harry James, and Tony Pastor, among others. She also was close to Glenn Miller and his orchestra, which played there too. She lived to be 103 and passed in 1986 (she was born in 1883).
