IN VERY GOOD VINTAGE CONDITION HAS BEEN STORED IN A CABINET FOR DECADES UPON DECADES AND GOOD FUNCTION AND CONDITION THE INSIDE IS A RUST PROOF STAINLESS STEEL VERY HIGH QUALITY. THE EXTERIOR IS METAL WITH A CHROME FINISH WITH TINY LITTLE ROUGH SPOT / PATINA FROM AGE PROBABLY FROM THE 1950S SO POSSIBLY 75 YEARS OLD LOOKS GREAT!
This is a vintage West Bend Penguin Hot and Cold Server.
It was produced by the West Bend Aluminum Co. in Wisconsin, starting in the 1940s, and became an iconic item of post-war American culture and cocktail parties.
The server features an insulated inner container that keeps food hot for 1-2 hours or cold for 5-6 hours.
The handles and lid knob are made of wood, though some versions used Bakelite.
It is made of chrome-plated aluminum and features embossed penguins around the base.
The server can be used as a bun warmer, ice bucket, or general serving dish for hot or cold items.
