The charm itself is sterling silver and stamped silver on the bottom. In the apex of the church roof is a tiny lense. If you shine a light through the opposite hole in the other side of the apex roof onto the adjacent lense and turn off the light you will see The Lords Prayer if shone on a wall. You do have to angle it a bit and have a steady hand. And it does seem to read backwards but I have flipped the photo for you of the Prayer that I shone on the wall. An absolute must for serious charm collectors. While invented in the 1850s and peaking in popularity during the late 19th century, production of these items continued until 1972. The lenses were incorporated into many different types of items besides charms and were popular Victorian-era souvenirs and novelties used to view miniature photographs of scenic views, famous people, or, in some cases, risqué images.
