US mints could not keep up with production requirements in 1987 so they quietly (and unanounced) had the San Francisco mint start producing 1987 Eagles (with no mintmark. Years later this was discovered, and people started checking their sealed MONSTER BOXES. Lo and behold, some found on the seals and sealing plastic the note that the Eagles enclosed in these sealed boxes were "Struck at the San Francisco Mint." NGC accepted these sealed monster boxes and graded them as 1987S. This is a RARE opportunity to acquire on of these Eagles. Very Hard to find,
