Cast Iron Cat Doorstop Issued 1989 By The Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC — Inspired By MMA's Peruvian Textiles Exhibit
This listing is for a Metropolitan Museum (MMA) limited edition cast iron cat doorstop inspired by MMA's 1979 exhibit of Peruvian Textiles. Based on Peruvian folk art designs it depicts a black cat with graphic red and white painted teeth, and red paint around the eyes (paint has worn off)
It has the following casting marks on the back EMIG #10 — 08472-1, © MMA 1989.
It measures 12" wide, 7.25" high, and the base measures 7" wide X 3" deep,. This is the only MMA issue of the cat and is highly sought by collectors.
