This book brings you up close and personal with eight different bug species in astounding motion.

Another addition to the bestselling Photicular series with over 1.3 million books in print, Bugs zooms into the tiny world of insects. Watch a grasshopper diving for its pray, a house fly rubbing its fore legs, a tarantula skittering across the floor, a leaf-cutter ant hauling a giant leaf up a branch, a dung beetle pushing its ball up a hill, a close-up of a damselfly's enormous eyes, and more. BUGS offers readers an up-close look at bugs in motion and a window into how they move and behave. Science writer Mara Grunbaum provides an opening essay that delves into the fascinating behavior of these wonderful creatures as well as a detailed profile accompanying each image.

Dan Kainen is an artist, designer, and inventor living in New York City. He is the creator of the bestselling Photicular books, including Safari, Ocean, Polar, Jungle, and Wild. While working with some of the pioneers of holography, Dan created a special spotlight that was used by Soho's Museum of Holography to light holograms. The related field of holography led to Dan's interest in lenticular art and, in turn, after nearly a decade of research and experimentation, to the creation of his "Motion Viewer," his third patent in that field and the inspiration for Safari and the other Photicular books. Mara Grunbaum is a science writer and editor who's covered everything from the biology of whiskers to mining palladium on the moon. Her work has appeared in Popular Science, Discover magazine, OnEarth, ScientificAmerican.com, and other publications and websites. She is a graduate of New York University's master's program in Science, Health, and Environmental Reporting, and lives in Brooklyn, New York.
