Beautiful Vintage Set of 4 Jian Ware / Tenmoku Style Cups. 3 Footed cups and one flat cup. Drip Ash Glazed Black/Brown and Tan with a white interior. Engraved and unglazed band at the shoulders. Hand Made and Glazed Studio Art Pottery. They have an MCM Mid Century Modern or Chinese / Japanese feel to them in form and decoration. Stunning set of cups with a lot of visual and textural interest. See the photos.
They appear to be signed, but it is very faintly impressed and I cannot make it out. Two of them appear to have a mark in the center glaze under the foot. See the photos.
Circa mid 1900s. Unknown origin.
The footed cups all vary, but are Approx. 3.25" Diameter at the widest X 2.8” Diameter at the Mouth X 4.5" Tall. The flat cup is Approx. 3.2" Diameter at the widest X 2.9” Diameter at the Mouth X 3.8" Tall.
Excellent previously owned vintage condition. I did not see any damage nor any signs of age or use worth noting. See the photos.
